CODE OF CONDUCT

•HAVE FUN

Enjoy yourself, enjoy your surroundings, enjoy activities and the company of fun people.

• LOOK AFTER YOURSELF

It is up to you to pay attention to your surroundings and follow safety instructions. If you ever engage in any Softys Clubhouse activity that may involve risk - for example, like climbing a ladder or connecting electrical cables- it is up to you to take appropriate precautions. If you don't know what safety precautions to take, always seek advice. If your kids join Softys Clubhouse, it is up to you (as parent or responsible adult) to gauge risk and ensure they understand what LOOK AFTER YOURSELF means.

•LOOK AFTER YOUR FRIENDS

We are not always as sensible as we should be. Always keep an eye on your friends and if they are not looking after themselves or causing problems for others, it is the responsibility of friends to step in and help out. Whenever you can, extend this out to people you don't know yet. Take special care around kids or those who may be vulnerable or need help.

•DON'T BE A DICK

Don't ever be the person causing problems for others. If you ever realise maybe you are causing problems for others, stop doing it, apologise and try to make amends. We can all have lots more fun when nobody is being a dick.

•ABIDE BY HOUSE RULES

In addition to the Softys Clubhouse Code Of Conduct, when you are on the Softys premises the managers of Softys also require you to abide by Softys House Rules. If you breach Softys House Rules you may be warned or asked to leave immediately. You may also be excluded from attending future events on Softys premises. If the breach is serious, the managers of Softys may apply to Softys Clubhouse to revoke your membership. House rules are subject to change as we learn from experience.

•CURRENT SOFTYS HOUSE RULES

NO AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR WHATSOEVER

DO NOT BEHAVE IN ANY WAY THAT ENDANGERS YOURSELF OR OTHERS

NO SMOKING - inside or outside

WASH YOUR HANDS after going to the dunny

RESPECT others and the property of others

ABOUT THE CODE OF CONDUCT

The Code Of Conduct as stated above is what you are required to agree to as a Softys Clubhouse member. If you breach the code of conduct, your membership may be revoked - temporarily or permanently. We expect members to comply with the code of conduct when involved in any Softys Clubhouse activity or event. The Code of Conduct is set by the Working Members Committee of Softys Clubhouse and is subject to change annually. If you dispute your membership revocation, you will have an opportunity to have your views heard and assessed by our Ethics and Conflict Resolution Team*, whose decision will be final. By having all members agree to these conditions, we will be able to provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for our members. We will also be able to demonstrate to outside authorities that we take safety and consideration for others seriously.

*Our Ethics and Conflict Resolution Team consists of;

Emma Mossman - Emma has an employment background in corrections, mental health and the tertiary sector addressing problematic behavior and responding to risk. Emma is an accredited Restorative Justice facilitator and has experience assisting people to manage interpersonal conflicts.

Lena Lettau - Lena is a qualified solicitor with a background working in the community legal sector and on refugee matters. She currently works in industrial relations, where she assists in resolving workplace disputes and advocates for fair working conditions.

If you ever become aware of a member causing problems for yourself or others, a member may at any time contact the Ethics and Conflict Resolution Team and request a confidential evaluation. At some point it may be necessary for your input to move beyond being confidential, but if so, this escalation will not happen without your consent.
